Mint Julep with Gin

The Mint Julep is a summertime staple. Simple to make, spiritous yet impossibly refreshing on a hot summer day. Gently muddle the mint in the glass or tin, being careful not to bruise the mint. And for the garnish, firmly smack the mint on the back of your hand to release the oils and add more aromatics.

Ingredients

2.5oz Tom Cat Gin
.75oz Simple Syrup
Fresh Mint

Preparation

Gently muddle 8-10 mint leaves in a julep tin with simple syrup. Add 1oz of Tom Cat, top with crushed ice. Add the remaining 1.5oz of spirit and top with more crushed ice. Garnish with lots of fresh mint and an optional dusting of powdered sugar.
